China Unicom Now Selling Over 3 Million ZTE Blade V880 Smartphones

ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, announced that China Unicom has agreed to sell an additional 2 million ZTE Blade V880 smartphones.

The latest order follows China Unicom’s June purchase and sale of 1 million handsets, putting the operator on track to sell over 3 million of the units.

ZTE Blade V880 model is the second best-selling China Unicom-provided WCDMA 3G phone in terms of daily sales volume. The V880 records a 450,000 units of shipment per month, with the highest one-day sale mark reaching almost 10,000 units. According to China Unicom’s August sales report, newly subscribed Blade users numbered 210,000, making it the best-selling phone model for August.

According to China Unicom's phone sales data, 3G phones priced in the US$150-and-up range are likely to exceed 7 million units by the end of this year. The latest 2 million unit order of the V880 is a significant step for ZTE to expand its GPRS business.

ZTE’s Blade smartphone has been the company’s flagship product for the last 12 months. It features a 600MHz processor and a 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen. To date, over 3 million Blade handsets have been sold in more than 50 countries worldwide.
