Ericsson has appointed Jean-Philippe Poirault and Steve Nylund to its Global Services organization, further aligning its leading services capabilities to customer needs in a rapidly transforming global communications landscape.
Poirault has been appointed as Head of Business Development and Innovation at the Ericsson business unit, while Nylund has been appointed its Head of Sourcing. Poirault comes to Ericsson with 20 years experience in the telecoms industry, including as Head of Media, IT, and Telecom Services with Alcatel-Lucent.
He has extensive experience in the multimedia industry, especially in partnering, and brings managerial leadership, commercial knowledge and key relationships with major IT firms, developers and partners in the US.
The Frenchman says close customer relationships and innovation are the keys to success for Ericsson and its customers as the telecoms industry undergoes its transformation to a Networked Society.
He says: "The industry is moving from technology and access to a much closer, business-driven relationship with customers. Ericsson comes from a strong position with its combination of services assets and technology. As the focus of our customer relationships shifts more towards business models, I believe we – together with our worldwide services teams – can bring value for customers in developing new services and solutions."
Prior to joining Ericsson, Nylund spent two decades in broadcast and print media management as a member of the executive teams that developed and led entertainment broadcaster Modern Times Group and global media company Metro International. Most recently, Nylund – who’s Swedish – worked with venture capital investments and online retail.
He says Ericsson’s services activities are beginning to lead the industry and to continue this growth, its sourcing activities must be world-class: "Our sourcing strategy, organization and activities must be competitive and tightly synched with our strategy and our customers’ needs."
Ericsson is currently managing networks serving more than 800 million subscribers, the majority of whom are served through the company’s global networks operations centers.
Globally, Ericsson has 50,000 in-house service professionals working in 180 countries, including 40,000 working close to the customer and 10,000 in our global or regional centers. In total, 10,000 have expertise within consulting and systems integration. Altogether Ericsson has more than 65,000 service professionals, including an average of 15,000 subcontractors, well positioned to support our customers' need for services around the world.
