Vodacom and Opera Mini announced the first three winners in a competition that is running to celebrate women during August. The winners this week are T. Mukhwantheli, who received a Samsung Galaxy Tab, K. Kimbel, the new owner of an iPhone 4, and N. Bhengu who won a WebBox.

One of winners had the following to say about his favorite woman:

Her name is Penny.

Although friends are plenty she surpasses many.

Together since boarding school

We’ve always had a rule:

To hunger for God and books first

Later, we’d quench other thirst.

Though August is the month for women

To us it begins with pain.

During the harder days

We keep each other sane,

And remind ourselves

What a blessing it is, to be given another day.

So, thanks for womens’ month

Thanks for dads and moms.

Thanks for a friend for life

Thanks for a voice to thank!”

The competition allows Vodacom customers who interact with the Web using the Vodafone branded Opera Mini browser to upload a photo and a few words about a woman that inspires them.

Up for grabs each week, by lucky-draw, are three very desirable gadgets: Samsung Galaxy Tabs, iPhone 4s and WebBoxes.

Vodacom subscribers using the Vodafone branded Opera Mini browser will find a new Speed Dial button that enables them to quickly enter the competition and, for those who have not yet tried the world’s most popular mobile browser, it’s just an SMS away. Simply send the word OPERA to 31116, at no cost, and enter the competition once the Opera Mini browser download completes.

The Vodafone Opera Mini browser is also available from vfmini.vodafone.com/adl/internet. If you have a device that is not able to browse the Internet in a usable manner, Opera Mini will allow you to have a good Internet experience on your device. The Opera mini browser compresses web pages by 70 to 90% meaning quicker page load times and reduced cost of browsing. You can have Quick links to all your favorite websites, social networks, and apps, and also view multiple open web pages in a carousel view.
