SAFE-certified solutions leveraging Samsung’s smartphones and tablets provide enterprise customers with enhanced security, accessibility, flexibility and efficiency
Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile), the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the United States1, announced a new program called “Samsung Approved for Enterprise” or SAFE at CTIA Enterprise & Applications in San Diego, CA.
Samsung enterprise solutions with the SAFE-certification will meet rigorous security criteria and will be configured specifically for enterprise use. The deployment of SAFE solutions leveraging Samsung’s Galaxy smartphone and tablet portfolio will help ensure that any organization’s mobile work force is securely connected to corporate applications and data while away from their desk.
“Today’s announcement of our new SAFE certification program reinforces that Samsung Mobile is truly the ideal partner for corporate mobile solutions,” said Dale Sohn, President of Samsung Mobile. “In addition to premium technology feature-sets, SAFE-certified solutions from Samsung will now deliver a higher industry standard for devices designed for enterprise use.”
The SAFE program is comprised of four components that outline Samsung’s business-to-business foundations for its mobile devices. These four “pillars” of SAFE are designed to offer customers essential enterprise functionality and security.
1. Mobile Device Management (MDM) – Maximize flexibility. Samsung offers comprehensive MDM enablement to ensure efficient, scaled mobile deployments. Samsung addresses even the most challenging management and security concerns through relationships with leading MDM providers such as SOTI, Sybase®, MobileIron™ and others.
2. On-Device Encryption – Maximize security. Samsung offers AES-256 bit hardware-based encryption to mitigate the elevated risks of virtual and physical attack that come with widespread enterprise deployments. Samsung’s enterprise-ready smartphones and Galaxy Tab™ devices help prevent unauthorized access to mobile data by leveraging on-device encryption, including data on the microSD™ card.
3. Virtual Private Network (VPN) – Maximize accessibility. Samsung works with several global VPN providers such as Cisco™, Juniper® and others to enable fast, secure and reliable global corporate connectivity. Samsung’s enterprise-ready smartphones and Galaxy Tab™ devices support protocols and authentication measures for better security and faster access for enhanced off-site productivity.
4. Corporate Email/Calendar/Contacts – Maximize efficiency. Samsung devices offer extensive support for communication systems such as Microsoft® Exchange ActiveSync®. Samsung SAFE devices support additional capabilities above and beyond stock smartphone and tablet operating systems. Designed to maximize the efficiency and productivity of large enterprise users, these devices are ideal for widespread deployment.
“SAFE is more than a certification process; it’s an umbrella offering from Samsung that will provide Enterprise customers with multiple device options, an array of vertical and horizontal applications, value-added accessories and secure mobile device connectivity to corporate data,” said Tim Wagner, Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Sales for Samsung Mobile. “Our goal is to provide corporate IT departments with the ability to certify one SAFE solution from Samsung and then provide approval for corporate and individually liable purchases of any SAFE solution from Samsung.”
Under the SAFE program, Samsung will leverage their existing Galaxy portfolio of tablets and smartphones to provide customers with multiple form factors and price points based on end-user requirements. The goal is to offer business customers good, better and best device hardware options without sacrificing functionality or security.
Samsung will also work internally and with industry leading applications providers to create SAFE-certified software solutions for vertical markets including healthcare, education, transportation, retail, manufacturing, financial services and government. These solutions will leverage SAFE-certified Galaxy tablets and smartphones along with essential accessories to meet customer requirements.
