Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, announced that it received three Broadband InfoVision Awards at the Broadband World Forum Europe 2011, including the award for Broadband Innovation of the Year.

Huawei was the only winner in multiple categories, winning the Broadband Network and Services Management and Operations category with its intelligent ODN solution and the Content, Entertainment, Applications and Services category with its IPTV solution. The Broadband Innovation of the Year was awarded to Huawei’s 200G high-speed line card.

“Huawei really impressed the judges with their entries and are well deserving of their awards,” said Gavin Whitechurch, director of the Broadband World Forum.

“Huawei is honored to receive these InfoVision Awards, as they recognize both our success in the European market and our contributions to the global telecommunications industry,” said Zhou Mingcheng, director of Huawei’s European Region Service Marketing Department. “We will continue our successful formula of helping our customers achieve business success by providing them with advanced broadband network solutions and intelligent and manageable basic networks.”

Huawei 200G high-speed line card
Huawei’s 200G line card for routers can easily be configured by customers in order to achieve a smooth evolution from 100G to 200G. Combined with Huawei's leading clustering technology for routers, the 200G high-speed line card offers operators network expansion solutions with higher expansibility and reliability to protect investments. The 200G line card optimizes high-bandwidth access capabilities and reduces deployment costs, allowing operators to meet bandwidth challenges in the ultra-broadband era.

Huawei intelligent ODN solution
Huawei’s intelligent Optical Distribution Network (iODN) solution provides intelligent fiber management, including setup and management of fiber connections. Its innovative design automates the identification and the collection of optical fiber connections and splitters, ensures that optical faults are correctly located, and enhances operation and maintenance efficiency. These capabilities help eliminate incorrect fiber data caused by manual input, allowing near 100% accuracy, and helping ensure that the correct personnel are assigned to service calls the first time. The visualized software running on the PDA (a prominent tool in the iODN solution) collaborates with the intelligent indicator display on the fiber distribution equipment to automatically search out the target optical fiber and port, dramatically enhancing the FTTx ODN operation and maintenance efficiency. Huawei’s iODN solution has been put into commercial use by operators around the world.

Huawei IPTV solution

Huawei’s MediaCloud On-Demand platform offers a future-oriented open platform based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA), which enables operators to facilitate service innovation by combining video (live TV, VOD, PVR, etc.), communication (voice, video, IM, etc.), and interactive multimedia services (games, SMS, online shopping, etc.).
