For years Windows Mobile users had to suffer from cameras that were at best substandard. Recent efforts from HTC seems to be moving the market forward slowly, but in the last month we don’t only have one, but 2 great contenders for finally making Windows Mobile a desirable camera phone platform, much like the Nokia’s N-series devices.
Gigabyte’s g-Smart MS820 bring a whole 5 megapixels to the table, a feat only equalled by the recently announced Samsung Omnia. While this is a great accomplishment, its only one of the MS820’s talents. The device also has a VGA screen, HSDPA, WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS (SIRF III) and the now mandatory accelerometer. All these features are supported by 128 MB RAM, 256 MB flash, a 528 Mhz processor and microSD expansion.
All these are housed in a svelte 14.1 mm thick body. The device features Gigabytes’s own easy to use interface and so impressed judges at Computex 2008 it won the Taiwan Excellence Silver Award. It is expected to be available soon.
