Sony Ericsson have tweaked their naming convention a little for the new S302 - "S" now stands for "snapshot", previously you might have expected this to be a K-series "Kamera" phone. The S302 brings some of the features of a Cyber-shot phone to this very lightweight 2 megapixel device, adding a photo light, photo fix function and camera blogging to what is otherwise a quite basic fixed focus camera.
It weighs just 79 grams and measures 101 x 46 x 11mm, which makes the Sony Ericsson S302 a very slim and lightweight device. But looking at the technical specifications, it is easy to see why the S302 weighs so little - the display is a basic 2" 176 x 220 pixel panel and the S302 doesn't support 3G. Despite the light weight, the S302 has a very reasonable 7 hours talktime and 12 days standby time, comes with an FM radio, stereo Bluetooth, expandable memory and USB connectivity.
With features like these, the Sony Ericsson S302 is hardly going to set the world on fire, but then it does look to be quite inexpensive, and given the light weight it will probably be quite popular.
Sony Ericsson say that the S302 is due in early Q4, in Crystal Blue and Thunder Grey colour schemes.
