Tired of the usual clamshell and candybar form factors for mobile phones? Why not a switchblade design? Yup, Motorola’s bringing back their old switchblade design in the Aura. The Motorola Aura is their latest luxury phone which is a throwback to one of their classic innovations from back in the day. So, aside from the truly unique form factor, what else will you get for a $1,999 phone?
It’s got Grade 1, 62-carat sapphire crystal lens, a stainless steel body that’s been electro and hand polished, Swiss-made and custom-engineered rotating mechanism with 130 precision ball bearings, and custom Tungsten Carbide Coated gears. Sadly though, as luxury phones often go, they have very little to offer as far as functionality is concerned. It comes equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, EDGE, and text and e-mail capabilities which can be found in almost any mid-range phone.
However, if you fancy elegantl devices, this is one for the books. It’s expected to be launched globally at the beginning of the last quarter of this year. Those looking for more bang for the buck should definitely stay clear of this one.
