Yep, that's it, I've officially had enough - gone are the days of PC hang ups, network freezes, and devices taking a coffee break whilst I grind my teeth (literally)…
What am I talking about? I am talking about my wholesale defection over to Apple - and as far as I am concerned, all things good!
Over the next few months, I'll be:
- Changing my wireless access point to an Airport Extreme 802.11n
- Moving from Series60 over to iPhone
- Rolling out Apple TV at home
- Purchasing the new MacBook Pro
But why would I do all these things? Well, it's a combined and growing frustration with many things Windows, but also many crippled, or frankly rubbish, mobile technologies. Without going in to too many specifics, I've had enough of operating systems hanging for no good reason, for devices locking up and rebooting, and also from wireless network attachment issues.
I've been quietly sampling the various networking, computing, and mobile offerings from Apple over the last few months, and my conclusion - they just work. Might not seem very significant, but my life is genuinely VERY busy - my day is typically 0600-2300, of which about 95% is work-related. I just don't have the time for the devices in my life to crash/hang/reboot, and so Apple is getting the big chance now.
I'll be posting up about my experiences, starting with the following post about Wireless Access Points - come with me on a magical mystery tour installation-fest, and see what I root up as goood things, bad things, and… if they happen…. downright frustrating things!
